Marathon Poker Session…sort of

Haven’t played much so far for October, so on Saturday I decided to put in a ‘marathon’ session. I say marathon, I played for 6 hours, which for me is a marathon session. Hahaha. I played Saturday lunchtime (GMT) and the games were sick soft, so im definitely going to try to play more around this time. In fact, that reminds me of a post I should make about the factors to consider to find the softest games. It makes a BIG difference to your P&L. Watch this space! Anyway, the net result of the session was +$1400, I was ok with that, amusingly, it all came in the last 30mins or so, but that’s pretty standard, poker can be pretty high varience in the short term, big winning player or not.

Tonight, im doing some 1to1 poker coaching with a student of mine who lives up in Scotland, he’s already a pretty sound player, but with some guidance, im certain he can be beating much bigger games. Maybe I’ll get him to post a testamonial or something on here. I actually met him at a poker festival we both qualified into about 2 years ago. We got chatting and it turned out we both faced off against each other nightly back in the days when I used to mass multitable £10 Single Table Tournaments! We’ve both come a long way since. Its also pretty interesting in that he works as a Police Officer, whereas im in Banking, it just shows all backgrounds can compete at a good standard when it comes to poker. Its all about applying proven techniques – just follow this blog, and you’re more than half way there already…

How do I leave a testimonial without sounding cheesy? umm I can’t really, so here goes.
I’ve been playing poker for a number of years now and considered that I had a good grasp of the fundamentals. I beat the games up to $100nl and have run good at $200 before however my journey up the stakes has always faltered. (I’m a winning player $9.5k plus bonus and rakeback on top so far this year).
I’ve read the books, signed up to Poker Training Sites, reviewed my play etc etc but never before taken a lesson.
WELL… boy was I surprised by the number of leaks I had. I’ll not go into detail because Johnny tailors the lesson to suit each individual.
Johnny is articulate and explains the theory and thought processes involved clearly. A lesson is a must.
